A Nigerian politician and human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore has labeled President Bola Tinubu and his Vice President, Kashim Shettima as thieves.
In a viral video posted on his social media platforms, Sowore in the company of some members of the Take It Back Movement, also called state governors and national assembly members thieves.
Sowore’s claim is connected to the arrest and continued detention of a Kogi State politician, Austin Okai by Governor Usman Ododo for accusing the governor of budget padding.
Protesting Okai’s incarceration, Sowore said, “It’s not a crime to call a thief a thief. Governors are thieves, senators are thieves, House of rep members are thieves, the president is a thief, the Vice President is a thief, they are all thieves. So, release Okai immediately and stop the political persecution of opponents of the government, including Prof Usman Yusuf”.
He further called on all and sundry to join their movement to defeat corrupt politicians.
“They are planning to silence Nigerians before 2027 but the revolution we are calling for may happen before then. We want to tell Nigerians that the only way we can defeat these people is to multiply our numbers, join us in our organisation; Take It Back Movement. We are not afraid,” Sowore declared.
