The family of Nigerian gospel singer Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, has confirmed his death, sparking grief among fans and colleagues in the gospel music industry.
The singer died in the early hours of Wednesday, October 14, 2026, according to a statement published on his TikTok account.
The statement described him as a beloved husband, family member and gospel minister under the Toluwani Gospel Music Ministry (TOGOMM).
“With deep sorrow, the family announces the passing of Minister Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, Toluwani Gospel Music Ministry (TOGOMM), who passed away in the early hours of 14 October 2026,” the statement read.
The family appealed to the public to remember his wife and loved ones in their prayers, adding that details of his funeral arrangements would be announced in due course.
His death has drawn emotional tributes from gospel artistes and other public figures, while the circumstances surrounding his passing remain unclear.
Comedian and gospel minister, Woli Agba, expressed grief in a tribute on his verified Instagram page, describing the late singer as a gifted artiste whose voice brought joy to many.
Titled Sunset at Midday, the tribute reflected the shock of losing a singer whose career was still developing.
“An angel just passed on,” Woli Agba wrote, describing Toluwanisings as the owner of “a very unique voice.”
He lamented that the singer had left behind a painful void and prayed for strength and comfort for his family, friends, colleagues and fans.
The tribute came after Woli Agba had earlier appealed to the public not to conclude that the singer was dead when reports of his deteriorating condition emerged on Wednesday.
Another gospel artiste, Mega99, also mourned him, describing him as “a rare gem with a unique voice.”
Meanwhile, an X user, Ennybets, who claimed to have witnessed the singer being brought to a hospital, recounted the distress among members of his team.
He said he had taken his wife to the hospital for antenatal care when the singer was brought in.
In a subsequent post, he described the sight of the singer’s band members crying over his condition as deeply distressing.
The Convener of the Coalition of Public Interest Lawyers and Advocates, Pelumi Olajengbesi, had also expressed concern over the singer’s reported death, lamenting what he described as the troubling loss of young Nigerians.
Toluwanisings, who hailed from Ikirun, Osun State, was known for his gospel songs and energetic live worship performances. His popular songs included Kos’Oluwa Laye and Kabiyesi Olorun Ayo.
The singer was also reportedly a trained estate surveyor and valuer.
His death comes about three months after he and members of his team survived a road accident involving a fully loaded trailer while returning from a church programme in July.
Following the incident, the singer shared photographs of the damaged vehicle on social media and expressed gratitude for their survival.
