Two members of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission have tendered their resignation.
The members said their decision to quit the commission was informed by the recent judgment of the Supreme Court which annulled the 2024 Local Government Council elections in the state.
The affected members are Dr Lazbery Nyebuchi Nnah, the Commissioner in charge of Budget/Research and Statistics and Prof Simeon Emenike Weli, the Commissioner in charge of Political Parties/Monitoring.
Their letters, dated Friday, March 7, 2024, were addressed to the Chairman of the Commission while the Secretary to the State Government was copied.
Both men prayed for the commission while appreciating the opportunity to serve the state.
