The Ogun State Government has described the death of veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, as a major loss to the state’s cultural heritage and Nigeria’s creative industry.
The state also recalled Ogogo’s humility, dignity and respect for others, saying those qualities complemented his artistic achievements and contributed to the lasting admiration he received from generations of Nigerians.
The government extended its condolences to the actor’s family, friends, colleagues, the people of Ilaro and his numerous admirers in Nigeria and beyond.
It said Ogogo’s death should also be seen as a moment to reflect on the cultural value of his body of work and the role he played in keeping indigenous storytelling relevant in the modern entertainment industry.
“His voice may have fallen silent, but his works, values and contributions to our cultural heritage will continue to speak for generations,” the statement said.
The government prayed for the peaceful repose of the late actor’s soul and for strength for his family and others mourning his death.
